AVALON
2003

QAM's participation in the recent Avalon International Air Show has been an
outstanding success. Made possible by a grant from Caloundra Tourism Inc, our
participation was an excellent example of how the new tourism levy serves to promote
the Sunshine Coast. In addition to promoting QAM, our display also served to encourage
tourism to the Sunshine Coast in general and several thousand information kits
were distributed to air show patrons. Indeed, some of these people have already
visited the Museum after having seen our display at Avalon. Star of the QAM display
was the Sea Vixen nose section which was trucked down from Caloundra with transportation
costs being covered by the grant. We extend special thanks to the following QAM
members who travelled to Avalon to staff the display and contributed to their
own expenses: James Wing, Carl Hockey, Cameron Elmes, Phil Lovett and Nick Sayer.
The only complaints received were that the queue at the Sea Vixen was too long!
Display organisers have already invited QAM to attend the next event.
