| This
extremely rare photograph (which Henry Godman cut out of his album!) shows
the artwork which was applied briefly to the second aircraft (C-47A-20-DL
41-23421 c/n 9283) to carry the call-sign VH-CXE. Apparently the artwork
did not appeal to Major General Sutherland who ordered its removal. The
name was probably removed at the same time, for the aircraft was more commonly
known as "Sexy", a name which was derived from the attempted pronunciation
of the call-sign CXE. Noteworthy is the spelling of the name "Shiela" which
is often mis-reported as "Sheila" although this spelling would probably
have been more correct. Photo: Henry Godman |
